Principal Transport Planner (Development Planning) – Central London 

RGB Network are currently working with a nationwide multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in their search to employ a Principal Transport Planner for their Central London Development Planning team.

The opportunity is a; client facing, project and team managerial position. So this consultancy is interested to speak with Transport Planners who have good commercial skills and project management experience, operating within a similar private sector consultancy.

This multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy has been operating within the industry for more than 40 years, and they have been continuously expanding with now more than 15 offices across the UK. Due to an increase in Development Planning works, they are seeking to grow their London Transport Planning further and are keen to employ a Principal Transport Planner.

Within their London office, they have a development planning team of 12 people strong spread across; Graduates, Intermediates, Seniors and Directors. Working within this team as a Principal Transport Planner, you would have the responsibility to; support in team leading, project managing, developing & maintaining client relationships and undertaking technical work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing Transport Assessments
  • Producing Travel Plans
  • Producing Transport Models
  • Developing policies and strategies
  • Multi-disciplinary project management
  • Post negotiation of planning applications
  • Potential to take line manager responsibility for some of the team.

The Successful Principal Transport Planner will have:

  • Good number of years’ experience within Transport Planning
  • Experience of mentoring junior staff and managing projects (budget control, fee letters, invoicing etc.)
  • Experience of working with clients, both in the public and private sector
  • The ability to lead on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Environmental Assessments
  • Knowledge of LinSig, Junctions 9, TRICS, TEMPro,
  • Experience of meeting demanding deadlines
  • Experience of budget monitoring, change management and fee negotiation
  • Good communication skills, and be keen to explore future project opportunities
