A well-established manufacturing company with projects in the Music Industry are looking for a Design Engineer to join their team based in London. They have a large client base of prestigious musicians and bands that continually return to work with them due to their demonstrated reputation for great service and product quality. This is a fast paced all-encompassing role that will require you to build projects in a short amount of time, and be taken down in an equally short amount of time as well. All the equipment then needs to be loaded into trucks & planes to be transported to the next worldwide venue.

In this role you will be responsible for preparing efficient models of project elements, you may understand the production drawings and bills of materials from your own models, or turn the detailing over to others. Your work will be managed by the Project Design Leaders, but you will also be expected to work independently and interact directly with managers, fabricators, third party engineers, vendors and clients. You will need previous design engineering experience, in mechanical engineering or design of manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities of the role are (but not limited to):

  • Liaise with the Design Leads to hand off the initial concepts and transfer them into the detailed design stage
  • Make the initial mechanical-structural assumptions and calculations ready for reviewing later by third party engineers
  • Research stock, purchased component and material availability and research vendors and pricing
  • Oversee the development and testing of functional scale or full scale prototypes
  • Create the detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, bills of materials and cut sheets for final review
Skills Required:
  • Engineering, Design or Architecture degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of structural and mechanical manufacturing components and fabrication techniques
  • Sound organisational skills & Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling (AutoCAD preferred) and good computer skills – Microsoft Office
  • Relevant experience in design of mechanical engineering products & design of manufacturing systems
Job Details:

Position: Full time 40 hour week, 8:30am – 17:30pm. Salary: Dependant on Experience. Location: West Yorkshire.
