Senior IT Support Engineer


I am representing a facilities client of mine based in Essex looking for a senior IT support Engineer,

This specifically covers the design, maintenance and support of the organisations IT infrastructure to

manage information, hardware, software and technology in an efficient, productive and secure manner. To support Management, Employees and Other Stakeholders meet the objectives set out above.

Salary Package:

£28,000 - £30,000
20 Days Holiday + Bank Holiday

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Supervision and delegation of work to IT support staff

Provide 1st and 2nd line technical with a general understanding of networking

Providing desktop and server support which includes:

  • Remote support
  • Ticket Management
  • Laptop and desktop builds
  • Documentation
  • Hardware support
Supporting and maintaining MS Servers, Desktops and MS Exchange

Setting up and configuring new laptops and desktops

Installing authorised software to laptops and desktops

Managing software licences and asset management

Ensuring security and upgrades are applied to desktops and laptops and kept up to date

Antivirus installation to all desktops and laptops

Fault finding to laptops and desktops

Reporting faults and maintaining logs on servers, desktops and laptops

Completing internal user moves including phones

Patching of network and phones

Installation of Cat 5 e network cables were necessary

Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained

Ensuring patches and upgrades are applied to core servers

Exchange server mailbox maintenance including archiving mailboxes

Setting up new users and disabling expired accounts in accordance with HR requirements

Assist in the organisations compliance with GDPR legislation

Engage productively with the company’s external IT consultants

Take ownership of user problems, perform a technical diagnosis and fix the issue either

remotely or on-site

Document all calls on the call logging system

Arrange for external site visits where problems cannot be resolved in house

Manage and develop internal and external policies and procedures



Qualifications and Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of Microsoft based

operating systems with emphasis on

Windows 7 / Windows 10 and MS Server

2008 / 2012

Networking Experience (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi)

Knowledge of Active Directory (AD)

Experience troubleshooting MS Office

Remote Access tools such as Team viewer

Good understanding of PC hardware and

software set-up and configuration and

TCP/IP networking skills

MCP certification
