VAC Service Manager – Surrey £46/48k + Company Vehicle
My Client are an Air Conditioning company based in Surrey with over 25 years’ experience in providing a first class service to their commercial, retail and high end residential portfolio.
They are now seeking a experience technical supervisor who Is looking to step up into a service management position.
Job Description
Primarily, the service manager will lead the employed and sub-contractor service and maintenance technicians (10 engineers). They will manage the day-to-day running of the service team, providing high-level technical support to field engineers. They will be responsible for planning PPM visits and coordinating reactive call-outs to our clients.
The candidate will also be responsible for enhancing existing relationships with our customer base as well as establishing new business.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
• Schedules, plans and deploys all reactive and pre-planned jobs via the company’s job logging software
• Recruits, interviews and hires new members of the service team
• Monitors training of all service engineers, from senior level to apprentice, to ensure they meet both company and customer expectation
• Reviews engineer’s work to ensure that standards are being upheld at all levels
• Develops maintenance strategy to ensure tasks are being performed adequately, whilst maintaining acceptable profit margins
• Responsible for engineer and apprentice appraisals & reviews, and for setting improvement goals
• Communicates daily with company directors to ensure that engineer workloads and standards are being maintained
• Generates new sales leads and promotes service agreements; including within the company’s existing client base
• Visits customers, when required, to develop relationships and nurture future works
• Provide detailed quotations for repairs and small installations in a timely manner

Minimum Candidate Requirements:
• Excellent customer service and sales skills
• Five years related management experience
• Possess an in depth knowledge of air conditioning systems, with a sound understanding of general building services maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams and pipe schematics
• Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standard of work
• Highly organised with the ability to manage several tasks at the same time, with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently and often under pressure
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), with knowledge of JobLogic advantageous but not essential
• Valid UK driving licence with a maximum of 3 points
• Willingness to occasionally work outside of standard contracted hours in order to maintain customer service
