My client is a global design and engineering consultancy based in London, with additional offices in the UK and abroad. They specialize in client-focused engineering solutions for infrastructure, energy, and industry projects, collaborating with contractors, international monetary funds, and developers.

They have a strong track record in delivering technical solutions for complex projects, including bridges, ground engineering, highways, ports, industry, energy, rail systems, and tunnels. Their major ongoing projects include HS2 rail, Hinkley Point C nuclear power station (UK), Padma Bridge (Bangladesh), Kampala-Jinja Expressway (Uganda), Hay Point Coal Terminal Berth 2 (Australia), and the Port of Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire).

Person specifications:

  • Undertaking or completed a Technician level qualification in drafting (e.g. HND/HNC)
  • Experience working within design and drafting teams
  • Some knowledge of Eurocodes and other relevant national and international industry standards and procedures
Competent in some or all:
  • MS Office Programmes
  • AutoCAD Suites, including 3D programmes
  • Revit
  • Tekla
  • AECOsim
  • Bentley 3D Microstation packages (InRoads, InRail etc).
Job responsibilities:
  • Engage in 2D design (surface modelling) or 3D design (solid modelling)
  • Utilize designs for cost estimation in project preparations
  • Typically collaborate within a small team, with each member working on different aspects of a project under the guidance of a design engineer
  • Create dimensional drawings, construction blueprints, and more intricate drawings
  • Amend and enhance existing drawings to reflect design modifications, in coordination with your team, supervisors, and external stakeholders to maintain uniform project documentation
  • Assess plans, specifications, and other records, and maintain notes and documents for future reference
  • Establish filing protocols for drawings to ensure current and accurate documentation
  • Carry out assignments both in the UK and abroad, as instructed
  • Implement protocols for standardizing work products and deliverables, including peer reviews to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery in the company's technical work output
