Job Title: Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £35k - £45k

A building services design consultancy are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing office in Hertfordshire.

The company have been trading for well over 20 years’ and are an incredibly reputable company with a track record of developing engineers. They currently employ circa 20-25 staff but have a good structure which allows engineers to get the right balance between being given responsibility but also provided with a lot of support.

They work along many projects such as pharmaceutical, residential, retail, leisure and office sectors, and value from £1million to £45million. You gain a variety of experience which will stand you in good stead through the remainder of your career and mean you will become a more well-rounded engineer who is not pigeonholed into a certain area of expertise.

Requirements of Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience required
  • Software’s used: HEVACOMP, CYMAP, IES or NES.
  • Experience designing HVAC or in following lifecycle according to RIBA stages 1-6.
  • Ideally a member of a suitable institution and is or aims to be a Chartered Engineer
  • Have good social skills, be a strong communicator and a good co-worker
  • Has some previous experience in manging a project, advised junior staff and has the attributes to progress through the business
This range, along with them being a SME, allows them to give young engineers their own project to run with support from the senior staff, which is the best way to learn. If young engineers are enthusiastic, they expect that you will be running your own projects within a couple of years. Experience of running projects will then give the necessary competencies to work towards Chartership.
