My client oversees various construction projects throughout the UK, with 30 technical staff in their Hemel Hempstead and Didcot offices. They are currently looking for a new team member for their Hemel Hempstead office, where they work on diverse projects across sectors like commercial, R&D, energy, and residential, including new builds and refurbishments.
They collaborate with in-house teams in structural and civil engineering, traffic and transport engineering, building surveying, and geomatics.
Person specifications:
- Design experience in all common building materials.
- An understanding of soil mechanics and foundation design.
- Be able to professionally represent the Company.
- Minimum qualification - degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- An ability to prepare structural designs in all conventional materials
- An ability to speak clearly, confidently, professionally and convincingly on the telephone
- An ability to write clear and concise e-mails, letters and reports
Job responsibilities:
- Assist and carry out structural designs in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Work closely with other members of the team and report to the project director.
- Develop skills with a view to attending meetings and liaising with architects, clients, subcontractors and other professionals whilst carrying out duties and at all times represent the business, in a professional and courteous way.
- Develop skills with a view to liaising with clients, project teams and local authorities.
- With supervision take responsibility for the technical aspects of projects.
- Develop skills with a view to assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
- Develop skills with a view to making sure the project complies with statutory requirements, especially health and safety.
