Senior Electrical Engineer | London (Hybrid) | £55k - £65k depending on experience

A collaborative MEP design consultancy, is currently expanding its team in London and seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join them. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a fast-paced and growing business environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional service levels to clients and contributing to the continuous development and expansion of the company.

A Senior Electrical Engineer can expect a dynamic role at our firm, wherein they'll wear multiple hats tailored to the needs of our diverse client base. It's typical for them to transition seamlessly between supporting roles for Landlord, Tenant, General Contractor, or Developer projects. They will take charge of the technical aspects of projects from conception to completion. This encompasses overseeing design management, including subcontractor design evaluations, fulfilling construction administration duties with periodic site visits, and supervising testing and commissioning activities. Moreover, they'll serve as the primary technical liaison between clients, contractors, and landlord teams.

Working for this company will significantly enhance a Senior Electrical Engineer’s commercial exposure, providing valuable access to real project cost insights. This aspect proves particularly advantageous for individuals with long-term ambitions in project management or client-side roles.

Beyond technical design and management responsibilities, additional tasks include conducting Due Diligence activities (typically for asset acquisitions or business expansion), conducting feasibility studies, and providing pre-construction support, which includes aiding clients in securing projects through bid formation and pitch representation.

Key Responsibilities of Senior Electrical Engineer:

  • Collaborating with the team to ensure successful project delivery, including providing technical support.
  • Developing specifications, drawings, and relevant contract documents while maintaining high technical standards and compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Acting as the lead engineer, liaising with clients and external design teams to ensure project success.
  • Providing electrical building engineering services design for various building and infrastructure projects.
  • Managing scope and scheduling changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, while maintaining planning and cost control.
  • Overseeing small to large scale projects from concept designs to completion, within budget and schedule constraints, while upholding technical integrity.
Requirements:
  • A relevant degree in Electrical Building Services Engineering or equivalent qualification, with at least 5 years of experience in an engineering consultancy.
  • Extensive experience in various technical areas, including multi-residential and commercial developments.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, lighting calculation software packages (e.g., DiaLux), and cable calculation tools (e.g., Trimble).
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of Building Services Engineering, with the ability to manage a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body such as CIBSE or IET, and Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
