Associate Mechanical Engineer | Cambridge (Hybrid) | £70k - £80k

We are currently seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join a building services engineering consultancy in Cambridge. This role offers a dynamic environment where you will lead various projects, engage with clients, and foster a collaborative atmosphere for professional growth.

They offer consultancy services spanning building services, sustainability, BIM, architectural lighting design, vertical transportation, and smart buildings for a wide array of projects. Their project spectrum encompasses Commercial, High-end Residential, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Leisure, Hotels, Education, and Historic buildings. Their footprint is expanding not only in the UK but also internationally, extending to the Middle East and North America.

Embracing the Passivhaus methodology and approach, they strive to deliver new buildings that are intelligent, eco-friendly, and highly efficient. Additionally, they focus on optimizing existing buildings to ensure they meet current needs and standards.

Key Responsibilities of Associate Mechanical Engineer:

  • Lead multiple projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and operational considerations.
  • Deliver detailed mechanical designs supported by accurate calculations.
  • Mentor junior engineers to promote their growth and development.
  • Maintain high standards of quality in designs and professionalism.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members and make day-to-day project decisions.
  • Support project management under the direction of Company Directors.
  • Represent the company at technical meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Contribute actively to departmental development initiatives.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all projects.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities.
  • Efficiently manage workload and secure fee-earning work.
  • Participate in business development and client engagement activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mechanical Building Services design.
  • Proficient in UK-based project design and knowledgeable about British Building Standards.
  • Competent in using Hevacomp and TAS software.
  • Strong managerial skills.
  • Comfortable and confident in client-facing situations.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Registered Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council, or actively working towards registration.
  • Familiarity with UK Standards and Specifications.
  • Possession of a valid UK driving license.
