Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Surrey | £50k - £65k depending on experience

A well-established building services engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team at their Surrey office. This role involves working on a diverse range of projects across the Education, Residential, Commercial, and Healthcare sectors.

The team specialises in delivering design solutions for both new construction and refurbishment projects. They prioritize maintaining services in occupied premises during renovations, ensuring their designs are carefully phased and implemented to meet this need.

Role Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for leading engineering designs, managing projects, performing administrative duties, and monitoring design team costs within the set budgets and timelines for each project.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a full UK driving license.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement company procedures and policies.
  • Carry out mechanical design and project management for various types of projects in line with company goals.
  • Manage the design team, providing mechanical engineering support to all engineers.
  • Liaise with clients and attend project meetings.
  • Maintain and grow 'The Design Collective' client base.
  • Conduct surveys and produce reports.
  • Perform quality inspections of projects.
  • Monitor the financial aspects of projects.
  • Develop mechanical standards within the organization.
  • Analyse IES thermal modelling results.
Experience Required:
  • Experience working in a consultancy, contractor, and direct client settings, including both traditional and design & build projects.
  • Producing detailed specifications.
  • Performing design calculations using both manual methods and software.
  • Producing drawings manually; proficiency in CAD is essential.
  • Preparing tender packages and analysing returned tenders.
  • Developing budget costings for all aspects of services.
  • Conducting site surveys and on-site project management.
  • Creating condition reports.
  • Managing junior staff.
  • Direct client liaison.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Hevacomp (or Cymap).
  • Must be a team player.
  • Educated to HNC or degree level.
  • Familiarity with CIBSE guides, IEE Regulations, CDM Regulations, and British Standards.
