PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT – TRANSPORT PLANNING

Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 + Bonus + Benefits


An employee-owned transport and infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Consultant to join its growing Transport Planning team.
With a strong reputation across the development, infrastructure and sustainable transport sectors, the business delivers projects throughout the UK and internationally. Their portfolio includes major mixed-use developments, commercial schemes, residential-led regeneration projects, sports and leisure facilities, public realm improvements and strategic infrastructure commissions.

The RoleThis is a senior transport planning position with responsibility for managing projects, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the business.
You will lead transport planning commissions from inception through to completion, managing project teams, coordinating technical delivery and acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities• Managing a range of transport planning projects across both public and private sector clients
• Preparation and review of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
• Client and stakeholder engagement
• Development of transport strategies and supporting planning documentation
• Project management, programme management and commercial oversight
• Supporting business development activities and proposal submissions
• Mentoring and developing junior team members
• Working collaboratively with planners, engineers and designers across the wider business
Requirements• Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or similar
• Significant transport planning consultancy experience
• Strong understanding of the UK planning process
• Experience delivering development-led transport planning projects
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Client-facing experience
• Ability to manage projects independently
• Experience mentoring junior staff
Desirable• MCIHT, TPP or equivalent professional membership
• Experience managing fee proposals and business development activities
• Knowledge of transport modelling software including LinSig, ARCADY and PICADY
