Job Description:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Structural Design Engineer to join our exciting and dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the design, planning and execution of permanent structures to support large, exciting construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural analysis and design calculations for a variety of projects, including commercial buildings, bridges, and industrial structures.
  • Create detailed technical drawings and specifications using industry-standard software and tools.
  • Develop conceptual designs and be actively involved with all projects under your direction.
  • Apply Eurocodes and British Standards, current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations, and other design codes/information as appropriate.
  • Demonstratable technical ability and design experience on matters of structural design for new builds and refurbs with a multitude of sectors.
  • Manage resources for projects under your supervision.
  • Be cooperative and offer pro-active advice in relation to problem-solving issues.
  • Undertake thorough site investigations, complete inspections, identify potential issues, and solve problems
  • Support other Senior Team Members in management of resources to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Represent the company at meetings of the design team as required.
  • Support Senior staff to develop realistic and competitive fee proposals for future work.
  • Contribute to business development activites and marketing as required for the benefit of the company
  • Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and maintain CPD record in accordance with the requirements of the Instituion of Structural Engineers and/or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters’ degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years’ experience within industry.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, especially within steel design.
  • Proficient in relevant software for structural analysis and design (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards related to structural design.
