Job Description:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Structural Design Engineer to join our exciting and dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the design, planning and execution of permanent structures to support large, exciting construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct structural analysis and design calculations for a variety of projects, reviewing and approving work done by juniors.
- Lead the structural design team in the development and execution of innovative and efficient designs for various projects, including high-rise buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities.
- Develop conceptual designs and be actively involved with all projects under your direction.
- Strong understanding and ability to apply Eurocodes and British Standards, current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations, and other design codes/information as appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
- Demonstratable technical ability and design experience on matters of structural design for new builds and refurbs with a multitude of sectors.
- Manage resources for projects under your supervision.
- Be cooperative and offer pro-active advice in relation to problem-solving issues.
- Undertake thorough site investigations, complete inspections, identify potential issues, and solve problems
- Represent the company at meetings of the design team as required.
- Organise and contribute to business development activities and marketing as required for the benefit of the company.
- Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and maintain CPD record in accordance with the requirements of the Instituion of Structural Engineers and/or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters’ degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Demonstratable experience of overseeing and running projects, independently.
- Chartership status preferred, but not essential.
- Strong understanding of technical structural engineering principles and applications on a vast range of projects & materials.
- Highly proficient in relevant software for structural analysis and design (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.)
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Strong knowledge and demonstratable experience applying relevant codes and standards related to structural design.
