Overview
We are representing a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy for the built environment. They are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their expanding Building Services Engineering team in London. This is a key opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to play a leading role in delivering major projects and developing the next generation of engineers within a growing London team.

The London office is experiencing sustained growth under the leadership of a highly regarded director who brings extensive experience in business development, project leadership, and team growth. Current Projects
The team is currently involved in several major schemes, including a large-scale data centre overseas and a £100 million commercial development in England, alongside projects across advanced manufacturing, education, and mixed-use sectors. These projects offer exposure to high-value, technically demanding electrical design challenges in both UK and international contexts.

The Role
As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design, management, and delivery of electrical systems across a range of building projects, while supporting and mentoring more junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and delivering electrical engineering design projects from concept through to completion
- Leading project teams, coordinating design information, and ensuring delivery to quality, cost, and programme requirements
- Undertaking and reviewing design calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Conducting site inspections and technical reviews
- Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities
- Managing financial performance of projects, including budgets and profitability
- Supporting team development through mentoring, guidance, and technical review
About You
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer (CEng – CIBSE or IET) with:
- At least 10 years’ experience in UK-based building services consultancy
- Proven project leadership and team management experience
- Strong technical expertise in electrical systems design and coordination
- Proficiency in Revit MEP, Amtech ProDesign, and NBS
- Excellent communication, organisational, and client-facing skills
- Experience across sectors such as automotive, industrial, and commercial buildings
- Familiarity with clean/dry room and data centre environments (advantageous)
- £65,000 – £80,000 salary, plus benefits
- Hybrid working (typically three days in the office, two from home, with flexibility considered)
