Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy that have been established for over 20 years delivering Structural and Civil Engineering design services to a wide range of clients operating in the commercial, industrial, power, health, transport, leisure and education sectors. They are currently seeking a skilled Senior CAD Technician to join their team in Derby. This is a key position within the company reporting to the Drawing Office Manager & Directors. Responsibilities
- Producing reinforcement bending schedules for reinforced concrete when required
- Managing workload on numerous projects to ensure deadlines are met and client requirements are fulfilled
- Understanding client requirements, recognising and dealing with construction interfaces
- Working with current National Design Standards and Client Specifications
- Working to tight deadlines, delivering project deliverables on time and on budget
- Taking a lead role in larger schemes to plan work and delegate to other Technicians within the Design Team
- Mentoring Junior Technicians
- Liaising with Clients and external Client design teams on a daily basis
- Contribute and take an active role in the improvement of Company and Drawing Office procedures
- Adhere to relevant current legislation and industry design standards including CDM
Skills and Experience
- 5 years + experience in the construction industry as a CAD Technician
- Ability to draw and detail structural steel
- Ability to draw and detail reinforced concrete including producing bar bending schedules
- Able to produce overall site plans, sections and elevations
- Has exceptional knowledge of civil and structural build details and construction interfaces
- Is an advanced user of AutoCAD 2D software and can produce high quality, accurate drawings
- Is an advanced or intermediate user of Revit
- Has experience using Civil 3D (preferred but not essential)
- Has working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations
- Has good communication skills
- Holds relevant qualifications (HNC or higher level) or can demonstrate equivalent experience based learning
- Has experience working on Electrical Substation projects (preferred, but not essential)
