Commercial Electrician – Full-Time

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded electrical contractor that delivers a range of services across domestic, commercial, and public-sector sites. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Electrician to join their team.

About the role
This position involves a mix of testing, inspection, maintenance, and installation work, with a primary focus on EICRs and PAT testing within public buildings. You may also be asked to support a variety of other projects including refurbishments and electrical upgrades in schools, offices, retail spaces, residential blocks, and light industrial settings.

A company vehicle will be provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct EICRs, PAT testing, and complete the relevant certification
• Inspect, test, and ensure compliance with current wiring regulations (BS 7671)
• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across a range of electrical systems
• Fault finding and rectification in both planned and reactive settings
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and colleagues in a professional manner
• Maintain clear and accurate records of time worked, materials used, and tasks completed
• Follow health and safety procedures and company policies on all jobs

Required qualifications and certifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Systems or equivalent
• 18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382-18) – essential
• Inspection & Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391, 2394, or 2395) – essential
• PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377) – desirable (or willingness to obtain)
• Full UK driving licence – essential
• ECS Gold Card or equivalent competency proof – preferred

Salary and package

• £38,000 – £43,000 per annum
• Company van (business use only), fuel card, laptop, and phone provided
• 30 minutes unpaid travel time each way per job 
• Overtime opportunities available
• 20 days holiday + bank holidays, with 1 additional day per year of service
• No call-out rota required

Skills and experience

• Good working knowledge of British Standards, building regulations, and H&S practices
• Confident reading and working from technical diagrams and drawings
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
• Comfortable working alone and managing workload
• Organised, reliable, and committed to high standards of work

Desirable experience

• Installing EV chargers or renewable energy systems such as solar PV
• Background in commercial projects including new builds, maintenance, and upgrades
• Familiarity with fire alarms, CCTV, and access/security systems
