The client is a successful, independent fire safety company that has been operating for over 20 years. They enjoy excellent feedback from their clients and are known for treating customers fairly. To protect this reputation, they ask their team to focus on doing the right thing for the customer and delivering the highest standard of work. Therefore, the successful employees will be naturally customer-oriented and take pride in delivering high quality work. They started out specialising in fire extinguishers and have gradually expanded their abilities into fire alarms. Currently with a staff of 12 they also offer fire safety training and fire risk assessments. With many customers throughout Surrey, Berkshire and West/Central London They are primarily a ‘local’ company and don’t want to offer national cover.
In the last 2 years they have nearly trebled their fire alarms business and are now looking to add a senior fire alarms role to lead their team of engineers and manage sub-contractors. They anticipate that the role will require 40-60% of time to be spent on the tools initially, but that over time this will develop into a purely supervisory position. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the fire alarm industry and have strong technical knowledge of a range of fire alarm systems , preferably with an electrical qualification, although this is not essential. They should be able to demonstrate leadership skills including managing and motivating teams, allocating & organising work for others, delivering team targets and problem-solving. They should also be able to demonstrate a track record of quoting for and winning installation business.
They are looking for an experienced fire alarm/emergency lighting engineer/installer/commissioner to join their growing fire alarms team. Basically, a well-qualified all-rounder. Experience with servicing smoke vents would also be helpful but not essential. Ideally, you will have experience in quoting for and winning installation work but that is also not essential. The ability to think on your feet and research how to solve day to day problems is essential.
You will be:
Experienced on a wide range of panels and protocols,
Knowledgeable on legislative and BS requirements,
Able to install and commission new fire alarm small works and remedials,
Able to think on your feet and deal with problems as they arise,
Willing to attend additional training courses as required to further knowledge.
