Electrical Contracts Manager – Social Housing Contract

My Client is an Electrical Contractor, based in Sussex.

They have been established for over 45 years and offer a range of electrical services to businesses, local authorities, schools, colleges, academies, housing associations and individuals across Sussex and Kent.

Currently employ 65 staff to support our operations, including 20 office-based staff.

They are seeking an Electrical Contracts Manager to manage a Social Housing Contract worth £800k.

With £4,500 properties across West Sussex, you will be managing a team of 6 Engineers.


THE ROLE – Electrical Contracts Manager

Monday – Friday / 07.30 – 5pm / 45 Hour Weeks

Contribute to and integrate with the Company’s objectives and other team members to ensure compliance with current standards and practices within the electrical industry.

This will involve the ability to independently manage a Social Housing Contract that is a 5+5 year contract, while overseeing installation works as carried out by the engineers and apprentices within this contract. 

Project / Client Management    

  • Management of day-to-day projects/client associated works. This will include reactive, EICR`s, Voids. Sub-contracting work for CCTV and Door access.
  • Lead contact for the running of projects and other associated works i.e. commercial clients, local authority, and new business opportunities.
  • Preparing financial budgets and quotations for the Client.
  • Develop and plan work schedules to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Attend meetings and prepare reports for client meetings.
  • Update records using the company’s works IT management system.
  • Provide effective communication to clients and to actively seek and develop future opportunities.
Line Management and Supervision of Staff
  • Management of engineers / lead engineer site supervisors.
  • Provide mentoring, assistance, and create a supportive environment in relation to your team of engineers.
  • Supervision of engineers and sub-contractors assigned to works in your area of responsibility.
  • Conducting team meetings and demonstrating toolbox talks when required.
  • Undertaking annual Staff Appraisals and implementing actions thereof.
  • Direct line management to the engineers assigned to your team.
 Compliance / Technical
  • Ensure compliance to the policies and procedures, assessments, statements, plans, conditions, and codes, as administered by the Directors.
  • Provide Technical support to engineers / clients and other teams members as required.
  • Responsibility of ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, when planning and undertaking works.
  • To meet the requirements of NICEIC QS status for the company and conduct associated duties. After successful completion of QS assessment. (Not required at start of role).
  • Full understanding of drawings, diagrams, and specifications to interpret, develop and adapt to a project during the course of its execution to achieve completion.

Financial Responsibilities
  • Order goods and services relevant to the works delegated to the section.
  • Approve decisions, requests, expenditure, and recommendations associated with assigned contracts/works, and in agreement with your line management structure.
  • Produce schedules, negotiate costs and timescales, agree best methods and practices to meet budgetary constraints, ensuring quality and time expectations are adhered to.
  • Submit applications and invoices in a timely manner, in accordance with Client instructions and with a high regard for accuracy.
  • Conduct Job costings, quarterly WIP figures, and other financial analysis of works assigned in accordance with financial processes and timescales.
 

The Successful Candidate:
  • Fully qualified with Apprenticeship route of AM2.
  • 18th Edition
  • NICIEC QS Experience a requirement
  • Experience in a similar role
