Job Title:                          Senior/Civil Design Engineer

 

Reporting to:                    Associate

 

Location:                          Nottingham

 

Salary:                              £37k-£42k (Depends On Experience)

 

A multidisciplinary design consultancy that have been operating for nearly 30 years are on the lookout for an ambitious civil/senior engineer to join the business in their Nottingham office. There are 20 people across the business and the civils team currently has 4 people where there are 2 design engineers and 2 cad technicians.

 

In terms of sectors they work on a number of retail projects, industrial schemes which are always underway, housing projects and a bit of education.



Civil Engineer role:



-          This consultancy want the civil engineer to participate in the training of less experienced staff including apprentices (this is the responsibility of all staff so would be a small but important part of the role).


-          The engineer is expected to run their own projects and be a single point of contact for a few clients – be their go-to person.


-          Liaise with their structures team where projects are multi-disciplinary, both at quote level and when a project is underway.


 

Other Civil Engineer responsibilities/duties:

 


-          To manage projects independently, reporting progress to the Associate in regular updates.


-          To deal with team matters arising in the absence of the Associate and manage the team, when necessary.


-          To meet with clients as a first point of contact and take project briefs, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all team members through effective communication.  This will be monitored through client satisfaction questionnaires.


-          To produce fee proposals for multi-disciplinary projects in accordance with the project brief, which are realistic and commercial. Where necessary, prepare technical documents for speculative work or as part of a client tender.


-          To monitor the profitability of individual projects and negotiate additional fees where appropriate to ensure financial success of the company.


-          Provide solutions to complex technical problems and ability to write and interpret specifications.

 

Civil Engineer technical requirements:

 


-          The engineer must be able to use AutoCAD and Micro drainage.
