The company

Well-established M&E consultancy based in St Alban who is looking for an Electrical estimator to join their team. Our client has been established for over 15 years providing Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying services and Contractual Advice to main contractors within the private and public sector including hospitals, schools, rail , retail, hospitality and blue chip offices.


Job Description

  • Reporting to the Estimating Manager
  • Support the business in a time of growth and ensure all tenders are priced accurately to ensure the company remains competitive within the market
  • Preparing accurate and timely cost and sales estimates for projects to consistent and competitive levels
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • The candidate must take responsibility for all electrical related estimation works
  • Playing a key role in tendering meetings, in submitting and managing bids and for accurate documentation
  • preparation revision and submission at all required stages through to award of contract, including negotiation stages
  • Creating a fully detailed tender based on a performance specification and services drawings
  • Production of estimates using industry known estimating software, using standard methods of measurements where required Responsible for gathering data required in preparing lump sum
  • Winning and tendering desired projects, achieving discounts with suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Send out inquiries and work closely with supply chain at tender stage to ensure correct and competitive prime costs. Producing any required schedules of materials where required
  • Query bid documentation as may be required to clear up any ambiguities, errors and omissions in tender prior to tender closing - Producing a list of RFI's and submit to the client
  • Estimating cost analysis and estimate co-ordination
  • Liaise and negotiate with end clients to ascertain the exact requirements for  estimates and understanding budget constraints
  • Read drawings to scale and compiling detailed schedules/take-off's
  • Identify scope of value engineering/value creation and identify tender risk
  • Review and ascertain costs associated with logistics
  • Inputting material and labour into estimation
  • Populate client's tender summary breakdown
  • Arrange tender review meeting with senior management and agree submitting
  • Attend client post-tender meetings
  • Produce estimates from various stages of the process with varying degrees of information
  • Maintaining an up to date understanding of technical contractual and commercial developments, continually seeking to win contract through negotiation, single tender action or by alternative solutions
  • Prepare information packages for handover to construction team if successful
  • Attend handover meeting and brief the team on the tender bid
  • Communicate with clients to follow up of submitted tenders and bids

Salary and Packaged:
  • £40-45k basic
  • 25 days holiday
