Senior / Principal Civil Infrastructure Design Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (dependent on experience)
An established, employee-owned, multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join their Nottingham office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or Principal Engineer with strong experience in drainage and highway design to play a leading role within a growing infrastructure team.
The Company:
With a headcount of over 100 professionals across six UK offices, the firm is well-regarded for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across multiple disciplines. The Nottingham office is home to 12 staff, including a three-person infrastructure team made up of an Associate, a principal, and a mid-level engineer. The firm is now looking for someone to help manage day-to-day design activities and support the continued growth of the team.
The Role:
You will be working on a diverse range of residential infrastructure projects, typically ranging in size from 100 to 1,000 units. The workload will be evenly split between drainage and highway design, covering both pre-planning and detailed design phases. You will be responsible for delivering technically sound solutions, supporting junior team members, and liaising with clients and approval bodies.

You will be responsible for delivering technically sound solutions, supporting junior team members, and liaising with clients and approval bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage infrastructure design projects, particularly in the residential sector.
- Produce detailed drainage and highway designs (S104, S38, S278) in line with current regulations and best practice.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Proven experience in civil infrastructure design with a strong technical grasp of current standards and regulations (e.g., SSG, Building Regs, DMRB, Ciria C753).
- Proficiency in MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow and AutoCAD is essential.
- Experience with Civil 3D or Site 3D is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects through planning and technical approval stages.
- Chartered or working towards chartership (e.g., ICE) is advantageous.
